FAQ
Card Lamination and Varnishing Process
A:· Choose Varnish for standard protection and cost-effectiveness.
· Choose Lamination if you need maximum protection or are concerned about liquid spills.
A: Yes, lamination makes paper cards water-resistant. This is great for party games or kids' games where spills might happen. While not fully waterproof like plastic (PVC) cards, laminated paper offers strong resistance to water and is much cheaper than plastic options.
A: There are generally two types:
· Glossy Lamination: Produces a reflective shine.
· Anti-scratch Matte Lamination: Has a flat, non-reflective finish. Note: This finish makes cards difficult to shuffle, so it is not recommended for poker decks. It is better suited for game cards that do not require frequent shuffling.
A: Lamination involves applying a thin polypropylene film over the printed sheet after the printing process is complete. Compared to varnish, lamination offers the highest level of protection for your cards.
A: Varnish is the most common finish for playing cards. It is a liquid gloss coating applied directly by the offset printing press. Its main purpose is to seal the ink and protect it from scratches.
